GLADE, which as the acronym implies, aims to bring the largely fragmented lithosphere and mantle
dynamics researchers out of the "forest" and into an open forum to begin discussing major
scientific questions together as a community and address the challenges those provide.
GLADE is intended to serve as a nesting ground for the US Geodynamics community to present and
discuss both state-of-the-art and emerging research directions. Additionally, GLADE also seeks
to provide a venue that unifies three diverse communities: 1) mantle dynamics, 2) lithospheric dynamics, and 3) tectonics.
There is presently no regular meeting held in the U.S. that fosters meaningful and continual engagement between these communities.

The meeting will emphasize cutting-edge research on geodynamical
modeling of the lithosphere and deep Earth.
CIG will also convene a "Town Hall" meeting on computational geodynamics
to discuss the future direction of modeling and
software development.
A technical program on July 29 will include hands-on tutorials
and demos for geodynamics software.

GLADE will be hosted by Scripps Institution of Oceanography. The workshop will held in La Jolla, California at the
Scripps Seaside Forum.

June 20: deadline EXTENDED for students and early career researchers to register and receive travel support
July 1: deadline for registration if staying at La Jolla Shores Hotel
July 15: deadline for registration (only on-site registration after this date)
La Jolla Shores Hotel
It is about 15 min walk along the beach to the conference facility.
These are 3 bedroom apartments which allow for
3 people in each apartment. It is about 30 min
walk downhill to the conference facility (which is at sea level).
An attempt will be made to provide some additional transportation.
